RNID is running a campaign to change public perceptions of hearing loss and the use of hearing aids. It is estimated that 4 million people in the UK could benefit from hearing aids but, for various reasons, are not doing anything about it. The Breaking the Sound Barrier campaign aims to change this by encouraging people to have a hearing test and get the right aids fitted. All you do is phone 0845 600 5555 for your five-minute hearing check. This will act as an indicator of hearing loss. Anyone identified as having a potential problem will be advised to contact their GP for a referral to have a hearing test.
- a more secure way to pay If you find it difficult to use your credit or debit card with a pin number, either because you cannot remember the number or because you find it difficult to use the machine due to dexterity problems then contact the local branch of your bank as cards are still available for use with a signature only.

Two new venues have been established at:
Harrow Central Mosque Elders' Club Harrow Central Mosque, Station Road, Harrow
Zain Medical Centre, 122 Turner Road, Edgware
These sessions will provide information and advice to South Asian elders about benefits, housing, residential
and nursing homes, health, leisure and social activities, and their rights to social services. A limited number
of home visits will be incorporated depending on the needs of the clients. The above venues were chosen in order
to target the most vulnerable and isolated elders from the South Asian communities of Harrow.
