Computers and the Internet

How can I learn to use a computer?

A number of courses are available from Adult & Community Learning in Harrow. For more information visit the Reach Adult and Community Learning website.

What about Internet Cafes?

Yes, many Internet cafes also provide a range of training courses and the learning environment is very informal.

And Libraries?

Want to learn or to use a computer?
Taster Sessions on basic computer skills using the internet and setting up an email account are provided in Harrow libraries. Each session lasts one hour and is free. To arrange an appointment contact your local library.

Also, computers with internet access are available to use free for up to two hours a day with a Harrow Library card. (There is a charge for printing)

Harrow Partnership with Older People POP have produced a leaflet giving details of some of the opportunities available in and around Harrow for computer training.

LIT is offering free computer courses for older people.

Help for Silver Surfer Shoppers

A new pilot scheme is underway to help older people use the internet for their shopping.

Harrow Library Services has teamed up with a private company to provide ten weeks of one-to-one tuition to people over 60, who live in the borough, to teach them how to shop on-line. The free sessions are being run at Wealdstone Library.
