and many others are the lifeblood of the community.

But many older people lose mobility and no longer are able to get along to join you. They can get neglected and lonely and their health may suffer. We need your help to help them remain an important part of the local community. We need your help to raise funds.

As a Community Group member you may have the opportunity to nominate Age Concern Harrow as your group's Charity of the Year. Alternatively, you could hold a one off fundraising event. Either way, we can support you to plan these events.

What's in it for you?

Organising your own fundraising event can be lots of fun and extremely rewarding. It is an excellent excuse to get together with all your friends and family whilst raising valuable funds and making a real difference to the lives of older people.

A few ideas to start you off

Quiz night
Quizzes are great fun. Charge an entry fee, serve a buffet and hold a raffle on the night. You could even ask your local off-license to donate a bottle of wine as a prize.

Auction of promises
Get members of your group to donate 'promises' and hold an auction. For example, accountants could offer an hours free consultation or cooks could make a family meal.

Book sale / Coffee morning
Charge a small entrance fee and get everyone to bring books, videos and CDs they no longer want. Sell them all that evening.

Cake sale / Food tasting
Get all the members of your group to bake a cake or make their favorite dish. Have an evening where everyone can sample the food or buy the cakes.
