The National Health Service (Nursing Care in Residential Accommodation) have issued Directions confirming that the three levels of benefit paid to people in care were replaced by a single rate of £101.00 per week from 1st October 2007. They have taken into account the problems that could arise from reducing the payment to those currently awarded the high band of nursing care from £139.00 to £101.00 per week. The Directorate states that residents on the high band prior to October 1st will only lose the high band rating if:
From the 1st October, those on low or medium band will be moved to a single rate of £101.00 per week.
